Exploring Street Art
Finding street art every place I go is one of my main interests while traveling. Whenever I find a fantastic mural, a funny stencil or an interesting tile piece, I feel excited and happy! I now make it a regular habit to look for street art everywhere I go, and now I have so many photos of amazing pieces of art it’d be a waste if I didn’t share them with you all.

What is street art, anyway?
An introductory primer to the different types of commonly-found street art, with examples from my own travels. Plus notable artists within each genre!
City Spotlights
Chiang Mai, Thailand
Some places have more street art than others, and luckily Chiang Mai is one of those places that has a LOT. Here’s what I saw in late 2023.
Ipoh, Malaysia
Ipoh is about 2 hours (by train) from Kuala Lumpur and about 1.5 hours from Butterworth. It’s a small city most well-known for its food! I visited Ipoh at the end of July 2024 and spent a few days wandering around looking for street art.
Butterworth, Malaysia
While most people come to Penang to see Georgetown (for good reason), they have to pass through Butterworth first to get to the ferry or the car bridge. Is it worth stopping by the Art Street?
