Eki Stamp Notebooks
Looking for the perfect notebook to collect your eki stamps on your Japan trip? Worry no more!
If you want an official eki stamp notebook, you’ll have to wait until you get into Tokyo and then go digging through bookstores like Kinokuniya. But if you don’t need that, or are impatient to get started collecting, then here’s a selection of notebooks you can buy BEFORE your trip and have ready to go as soon as you land.

Best Eki Stamp Notebooks
These are ones I’ve used myself and know will work well for stamping!
Moleskine Notebook
Moleskine notebooks are sturdy, with smooth pages and sewn bindings that don’t fall apart. They’re great for writing journal entries as well as stamping! You may see some ghosting on the pages but the ink shouldn’t bleed through.
Midori Traveler’s Notebook
My absolute favorite! This is a Japanese company that makes amazing notebooks and journals. This particular one is passport sized, which means it’s small enough to carry around in a pocket if you wanted. They also have larger notebooks if you’re going to get a LOT of stamps, and they also have a special Stamp notebook with paper that doesn’t bleed.
If you want, you can visit the Traveler’s Notebook stores while in Japan! They have a table full of stamps for people to use.
Pencil Board
Okay, this isn’t a notebook– but it’s something you’re gonna want. A pencil board is a thin piece of plastic that you put behind paper before writing…or STAMPING! This’ll help your eki stamps come out clear and sharp, and it’s lightweight so it won’t take up too much space in your suitcase.
Other Eki Stamp Notebooks
These are very popular with some travelers but I haven’t used them myself so I’m not sure how the paper is. The covers are beautiful though!
