Where to Find Eki Stamps in Fukuoka

I visited Fukuoka, Japan in 2023 and really enjoyed it! It’s a nice-sized port town with some amazing parks, a huge train station, and good connections to nearby sightseeing places like Yufuin and Nagasaki.

And of course, it has some great eki stamps available! This post was compiled from stamps I found myself, plus info provided by friends and fellow stamp collectors.

Don’t know what an eki stamp is? Read the intro post here with all the info you need.

Fukuoka Airport

There is a stamp at the Information Desk, in the departure area. You might have to ask for it from the staff.

Fukuoka Tourist Information Center

Address: Fukuoka Mitsukoshi Lion Square shopping center, Floor 1

This is NOT the one that’s in Hakata Station, but it’s just next to Tenjin Station. Two stamps on the desk, shouldn’t need to ask for them but if you don’t see them then find a staff member.

Fukuoka Hakata Train Station

The JR Sanyo Shinkansen line stamp is right next to the gates near the fare adjustment office; it’s one of those stamp machines so you’ll need a flat piece of paper to get a really good image.

The had some matching stationery next to the machine when I was there (as pictured), but if they run out you’ll want to use a piece of scrap paper (which I always recommend carrying anyway so you can test stamps before putting them into your notebook).

You’ll also want to stop by the Tourist Information Center desk on the first floor. It’s a little hard to find but it has a big sign at the top and it’s in the middle of the main floor (basically). They had this stamp for the JR Kagoshima Main Line sitting to one side of the desk, but if you don’t see it you may need to ask for it.

Kameyama Hachimangu Shrine

There’s a small rubber stamp (not the larger goshuin you have to pay for) inside the entrance on the desk.

Kidonanzoin-Mae Station

This is the train station where you’ll go if you want to visit the giant Buddha (recommended!). The stamp is behind the desk with the staff, so you’ll have to ask for it. It’s a great stamp so I highly recommend making the effort to get it!

Fukuoka Castle Ruins

It’s a huge complex and luckily there’s a few places to get the stamp:

  1. Korokan Ruins Museum
  2. Sannomaru Square, Maizuru Park
  3. Fukuoka Castle Ruins Visitor Center

It’s the same stamp image at every location, so just pick one that’s closest to where you’re going.

Kokura Castle

Address: 2-1 Jonai, Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu, Fukuoka 803-0813, Japan

There’s a castle stamp inside the souvenir shop; you don’t need a ticket for the castle itself to go into the shop.

Fukuoka Tower

Address: 2 Chome-3-26 Momochihama, Sawara Ward, Fukuoka, 814-0001, Japan

Two stamps available: one at the ground floor near the ticket area, and one at the lower viewing deck.

Fukuoka Hakata Port Tower

Address: 14-1 Chikkohonmachi, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka, 812-0021, Japan

Two stamps available, both on the first floor.

JR Kokura Station

The train stamp is located inside the JR Kyushu ticket gate (you might have to ask for it), and another is at the JR West Ticket Office for the Shinkansen line (you will have to ask for it).

There’s also a stamp for the Kitakyushu monorail line at the monorail ticket desk; you have to ask for it.

And finally there’s a stamp at the Kokura Tourist Information Center. They also have a map of the stamps available in the station if you need help!

Fukuoka City Subway

Apparently most (or all??) of the subway stations have stamps but I somehow missed ALL OF THEM on my travels. Well, that makes sense if you have to ask for them at the counter (which I think you do). You can see some pictures of the stamps at Aba Family Travel.

Are these still available? The Funakiya website says they’ve been discontinued as of 2024…

Fukuoka City Museum

Address: 3 Chome-1-1 Momochihama, Sawara Ward, Fukuoka, 814-0001, Japan

Two stamps available!

Kyushutetsudo-Kinenkan Station

You’ll probably come here, or be near here, if you go to the Kyushu Railway History Museum! The station stamp is on a little table just outside the gates.

And next door is the JR Mojiko Station which also has a stamp outside the ticket gate.

JR Space World Station

There’s an amazing stamp inside the tourist information center. I HAVE to go back and get it for myself!

JR Queen Beetle (ferry)

If you ride the JR Queen Beetle from Fukuoka to Busan, you can get a special stamp on board! It’s located near the lockers.

Yufuin no Mori Train

If you take the special tourist train from Fukuoka to Yufuin, you can get this amazing stamp onboard! It’s either in or near the cafe car.

A Note About Stamp Rallies

I don’t usually include stamp rallies (short-term stamp events) because they end so quickly, BUT if you’re looking for info then the Fukuoka Now website usually has up-to-date articles about ongoing stamp rallies within the city. In English, too!
